Carbon trading under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement has the potential to contribute half of global demand for carbon credits over the next decade, creating a market worth up to USD 15 billion per year in 2035. Supporting these transactions will require significant sources of capital from public and private sources. To date, however, the private sector has had a limited role in designing and facilitating the Article 6 framework.
The Article 6 Private Finance Forum will convene key actors across the public and private sectors to assess how the Article 6.2 and 6.4 mechanisms can be optimized to attract large volumes of private capital.
This invitation-only event, co-hosted by the MSCI Sustainability Institute and J.P. Morgan during New York Climate Week, will take place from 9:00–11:30 a.m. ET at MSCI’s New York office.
Breakout discussions:
-
Buyers: Purchase commitments, project preferences, key constraints
-
Sellers: Transaction readiness, barriers to participation, risk-sharing mechanisms
-
Market facilitators and intermediaries: infrastructure, registries, insurance, due diligence, risk-mitigation to scale Article 6 markets
Pre-reading materials will be distributed to registered participants. Your active participation will be critical to the success of the forum, which will generate recommendations and actions in time for COP30.
To confirm your interest in participating please kindly submit this form by September 15. Capacity is limited and spaces cannot be guaranteed.
